Youth Classes for October through December 2001

Youth Programs

Longfellow's Whale Tales Water Safety Program (K-6 grade activity)
Provides an easy-to-follow lesson plan for educators, parents, or other adult leaders to teach children about safety in and around water. Combines video, posters and reproducible worksheets.

First Aid for Children Today (F.A.C.T.) (K-3 grade activity.)
What can a pig, a beaver, and a dolphin do to help children live safe, healthy lives? This poster driven program introduces children to the prevention and basic first aid of injuries. A participant fun book  reinforces the lessons taught.

'Til Help Arrives - $5/participant (1 hour)
Ideal for Boy or Girl Scouts groups. Learn to recognize an emergency; how and when to call 911; what to do until help arrives. This class demonstrates first aid for breathing emergencies and heart problems. Dates, times and location scheduled at your convenience.

Adult CPR/AED; Infant & Child CPR; and First Aid
 Become trained and ready to help anyone in a life- threatening condition.   Pick the classes you want to meet your needs!   Great for Girl and Boy Scout groups working toward badges!   Dates, times and location scheduled at your convenience.  See the section on CPR & First Aid for the description and length of each class.

Babysitter's Training

For youth ages 11-15 interested in infant and child care. Prepares participants with the training every parent wants in a babysitter, including safety, basic childcare, safe play, first aid and emergency action planning. This course is divided into two modules.

Students who complete both modules will receive certification.

Module I – covers leadership, safe play and basic care (cleaning and feeding)

Module II – covers emergency first aid action (bleeding, breathing problems, injuries, etc) Child CPR included.

Babysitter's Training Module I - $20 (4 hours)

If desired, you may enroll in both modules for $30.
