Preparedness, Health & Safety Training at Heartland Chapter

The American Red Cross is the premier provider of high-quality, affordable instruction in health and safety education programs. Developed in conjunction with medical and aquatics experts, each program delivers the latest information and lifesaving techniques. Last year nearly 12 million people in this country were enrolled in Red Cross health and safety courses-nearly 40,000 right here in the Omaha area! Learn how to respond to emergencies and keep yourself, your family, and your employees safer.

Between July 1, 2004 and June 30, 2005, Heartland Chapter
  • Certified 18,466 people in CPR, first aid and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Certified 20,306 children, youth and adults in swimming and lifeguard training.
  • Certified 1,155 youth in Babysitter's Training.
  • Provided HIV/AIDS and injury prevention education to 455 individuals.
  • Provided Family Caregiver Training to 391 people.
  • Provided Community Disaster Education and disaster preparedness education to 10,901 children and adults.
  • Distributed 305 smoke detectors to homes and provided fire prevention education to 817 youth.

Every year, the American Red Cross prepares millions of people to save lives through health and safety training, including first aid, CPR and AED, aquatics and water safety, swimming lessons, HIV/AIDS prevention education and care giving programs. The Red Cross is committed to keeping people safe at home, at school and at work, by teaching them not only how to respond to emergencies, but also how to prevent them.

American Red Cross training programs are designed to instill the confidence to respond in an emergency situation, using skills that can save a life.

The Heartland Chapter offers training and volunteer opportunities for all ages. Many volunteers teach classes. Others work behind the scenes sterilizing manikins or delivering instructional materials to locations throughout the city. If you're interested in helping out, contact the Red Cross.
